This course covers the essential principles and tools of Managerial Economics, the application of microeconomics to management decisions. Students who master this material will be better prepared for leadership positions in business, not-for-profit, and government entities.
ABOUT TYLER BOWLES
Prof. Bowles received his Bachelors of Science degree in economics from Utah State University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His fields of specialization were international economics and econometrics. Currently, he is an Associate Professor of Economics at Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Prior to coming to Logan, Prof. Bowles taught at Casper College in Casper, Wyoming and worked in public accounting. Prof. Bowles also is a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
Prof. Bowles has taught a wide variety of economics courses. Recently, however, he has had primary responsibility for the large sections of introductory macroeconomics. He has received numerous teaching awards while at Utah State University — twice being named College of Agriculture Teacher of the Year.
Prof. Bowles is an active researcher and has had over 25 articles published in refereed journals since coming to Utah State University in 1994. Recently his research has focused on the application of profit models in testing the effects of supplemental instruction on student achievement and retention.
Prof. Bowles lives approximately 30 miles north of Logan on a farm in Southern Idaho where he runs an intensive grazing beef cattle operation with his four sons and wife, Marni. He also enjoys horse riding, camping and hunting with his family.
